Sundin????

I dont know why all of the sudden there is talk of Mats Sundin being intrigued by the Ducks? This is the wierdest rumor Ive heard ina while. First off, Sundin would have a hefty price tag. Secondly, we’re only $900,000 under the cap. So 2 things would have to happen for this to even stand a chance of happening….Sundin would have to play virtually for free (wont happen) and we would have to give up someone(s) ((could but wont happen). So enough with the rumor. Although for the record, I would love having Mats on the team!

Ducks put out the flames!!!

Ducks had a great game tonight and at times looked like they were playing in an exhibition. The flames looked flat tonight for some reason, and werent moving their feet. Because of this the boys were able to get another 2 points. The flames were about to muster 2 goals, 1 of which was a softy and should never have happend, but what are you gonna do? Anyhow, there was a scary moment when Huskins was smooshed into the wall hard face first. He left the game and didnt return until the 2nd period, and looked to be ok.

13 goals, 13 SO rounds, 13pts for Ducks…

Halloween couldnt have been scarier! First off the Ducks played an unusal game tonight. taking a 2-0 lead then 2-1, only to give up 4 goals in the second period to Vancouver! Now part of me was torn about the game at that point. you see, i was picked to participate in one of the contest they do at the arena with the live crowd. I was picked to compete against 2 other fans for a 1 and 3 chance at winning a return chance at winning a car! I know, thats a bit confusing. Basically, i won tonight, so i get to come back on the last game of the season to compete for a 1 in 39 chance at winning a car! Whew, thats alot of writing. So at this point in the game, i didnt know whether to be happy at my contest, or mad at my ducks losing! i chose mad at my ducks losing! They must have felt my presence, because all of the sudden the Ducks go on to score 3 goals to tie the game, then scoring again in the 3rd period tieing the score once again at 6-6! After no go during OT we went to shootout, where it took 13 shots for Vancouver to finally win in the shootout 7-6! It was a messy game, lots of positives as well as negatives, but all in all it felt like a playoff game! Until we meet again Canuck….I’ll take the 1 point!

The squids were flying and so were the hats!!!!

The Red Wings came to town and from the get go it felt like a playoff game! I only wish we had a dominance over Dallas like we do Detroit, then maybe last year would have been a different outcome, but for now we have tonight!! The wings were very physical from the beginning finishing their checks and oddly enough, provoking for fights. At times they even seemed undisciplined!! Anyhoot…the Ducks were matching them shot for shot and check for check, making this game feel like a playoff preview rather than game 11 of the regular season! Alot happened tonight…there were 3 fights on the ice, and one in the stands, there was a hat trick by Teemu, and 3 squids were thrown onto the ice!! The squids are usually reserved for red wing victories but seeing that tonights game wasnt going exactly as planned, i think some of the Red fans were just getting rid of the gooey stuff before making their way to the parking lot! The game was great, the Ducks looked great, even Holmstrum chirping at Scott Nieds and trying to get him to fight only to have Nieds dump him like laundry was a sight for sore eyes! We’ll meet these bums again later in the season, but for tonight the ducks owned the wings!! Free fries for everyone!!

Ohhhh Cana-duh!!!!

Wow! yesterdays game was by far the best game the Ducks have played all season long! I love the fact that 8 different ducks got points and that Perry, Getz, Seleanne, and Kunitz scored goals…..I also like the fact that Parros continues to mature into a goal scoring hockey player!! WOW parros!!! keep it up!! The best part though, is that we beat a scary 5-0 team like the Canadiens in their own building!! It was a great game, and from the beginning Hazy had said that the Canadiens had a 4 average of goals against, so this gaame was not going to be a 1-0 situation, and boy was he right!! I still dont like that Jiggy gave up 4 goals, but in this situation I’ll take it! 6-4 is an impressive battle. Keep it up boys, stay the course and GO DUCKS!!!

Goal by Huskins on a beautiful pass from Parros. Looks like we have a new top line.

Goal by Getzlaf on an excellent pass from Perry. I want to see more out of this top line the rest of this game. I need more confidence in this team.

The Ducks seem to be controlling the play for the early going. I’m liking the defense we’re playing and it looks like we’re able to set up in the offensive zone on even strength.

My TV KDOC TV feed showed a picture of two goaltenders in Habs uniforms. The older one is Patrick Roy. The younger one is J.S. Giguere.

Scratches for this game are Bret Hedican and Brad May. Carter is dressed for this game.

Huge stop by Giggy on Kostopolous. Habs are getting the chances, but they have just been unlucky, I suppose.

Penalty Ducks. This better not become a pattern for the rest of the game.

PPGoal Tanguay. An absolutely stunning goal. Giggy had no chance.

Another penalty Ducks.

Huge save by Giggy on a breakaway by Kovalev. In the play, Pronger takes a slashing penalty. Things are not looking good. 5 on 3.

Weirdly, Kovalev goes off too for unsportsmanlike conduct. 5 on 4.

Koivu Goal. This occured just as the penalty expired so I’m not certain as to whether this is registered as a PPG. Looks like the Ducks took it upon themselves to prove me wrong after I had praised their defense in the early going.

Perry vs Boullion. Perry wins.

Koivu’s goal will not be a PPG.

End of first.

Sorry, I skipped out to grab groceries and now its 4-3 with 6 minutes left in the second. Sorry bout that.

Apparently the first line has started to put up points. This is what I want to see. Next up: Teemu Selanne.

Powerplay Montreal. We need a stellar kill here.

SHGoal by Travis Moen off the steal. You gotta see this goal. Fantastic shot to the top corner pocket. If we’re going to take this many penalties, we need a better SHG rate.

Perry will draw a penalty shot off a fantastic odd man rush. Fingers crossed here.

Perry beats Price but couldn’t pull the trigger as the puck rolls off his stick. Lucky Price.

Scott Niedermayer makes a huge defensive play to poke the puck off Higgin’s stick on the breakaway.

Kunitz draws a penalty. VERY VERY marginal call. I want to see another SHG here.

End of Second.

Third period begins with Kunitz in the box.

Penalty killed. Giggy left a couple of fat rebounds on that one. Scary.

Another pipe by Perry.

A fantastic glove on Plekanec. It’s good to see Giggy back into his groove after a horrid first few games of the season.

This game is very evenly matched. The play is very back and forth with pretty even with the scoring chances.

Selanne Scores on the Power Play. I called this. Wide open net for Selanne, no choice for price. This is the Ducks team I want to see (offensively at least. I am still not happy about our penalties).

Montreal Powerplay again. This gets old.

The first line maintained control in the offensive zone through a very good cycle. That was a fantastic shift by the top line.

Tanguay Scores. Montreal finally puts one in after many great saves by Giggy since the third Montreal. I feel Montreal deserved this.

The top line establishes a long cycle deep in the offensive zone again. One thing I’ve noticed about Montreal is that they aren’t physical at all when it comes to defending against this cycle. Not one check against the Ducks’ top line in that segment. The Habs have got to do better than this.

Montreal pulls Price but still cannot create any offense with the extra man. I dont think they recorded one SOG with the extra man. They looked tired but they haven’t played the game for several days.

The Ducks completes the eastern Canada sweep. Only two teams have done this previous.

The Ducks weren’t so great against Toronto. They were a tad better against Ottawa but still weren’t anywhere effective. They were now much better against Montreal. Are the Ducks finally out of the slump? Let’s hope so.

oh brother!!!

what the heck were the ducks thinking?? They are up 4-0 and then like a scheduled event, they start to sink……4-1, then 4-2, then just like that it is 4-3 in less than 3 minutes it seems. I just dont understand why the ducks get comfortable on the rare occasion when they have a lead and then choke! i still have not forgotten the horrendous loss to the queens after we were up 2-0, then BOOOM, queens score on our asses and win! We need to continue playing hard, regardless of whether its 2-0 or 20-0!! no more defensive stuff…..no more just playing keep away!! we have to stay sharp and play like we’re trailing for the entire 60 minutes! if we would have lost tonight, it would have been an embarrassment….we have what many consider the best defense in the NHL, and we get scored on like they are invisible. Tighten up your straps boys….stop messing around and play like you mean it.

Whew!!!!!!!!

Wow. we just pulled that one off! We had no business going into overtime with a team like Toronto. Instead of dwelling on the bad, i am going to do something different and look only at thwe good! GEORGE PARROS!! What ever this kid (yea I know he isnt a kid but so what) did all training camp long is obviously woking and he should keep it up! Who knew he would have more goals scored than GETZ, PERRY, or KUNITZ?? Great break away shot that made all the highlight reels! Keep it going George!! Also, glad to see Perry finally scored a goal in a game along with Teemu! As i said before we had no business in OT with the Leafs….but I’ll take the W!
